Planning to head up to Atlanta for DragonCon on Labor Day weekend and....?

since we will be staying about 20 miles outside the city proper, I was thinking we might use the MARTA each day to ride in from the Airport to Peachtree Center Station, which I believe is close to one of the Con hotels. Whaddya think? Sound like a plan? Is the MARTA safe to ride? What about in the early morning and late evening hours? How long do you think the travel time would be? tks
 
MARTA is perfectly safe but the southern end of the train line is inside the airport and extremely inconvenient is you aren't inside the terminal.

Where are you staying? Hotels on the southside aren't very good.
