The source of Carbon for the construction of sugars comes from the CO2 in the air. The source of amino acids for the plants must come from the soil. Right? When I think of farmers fertilizing their crops, I thought they just used urea and/or nitrate salts. Are there amino acids and other organic monomers in fertilizer? Or do the plants only have to rely on the source from the soil?
