for! We are talking tonight? I am feeling stressed because the family I nanny for are putting limitations on my vacation time. I am a full-time nanny and have worked for the family for two months, and have committed to work at least one year.
-At the beginning, they offered 3 weeks instead of 2 weeks paid vacation because the salary was low
-our contract said "nanny will make best efforts to use vacation time when family is on vacation," which I stupidly signed even though that was the first I heard about it. I figured it just meant "best efforts"
-the dad said he wants me to use up 2 of my 3 weeks when the family is on vacation
I want to apply for an arts residency program, and you find out a month before you go to the location for one week. So I'd tell them a month before I'd be gone for a week. They said that's too late because they want their family to come and babysit for the child. I suggested they go online to find a back-up sitter and they said no.
How do I negotiate this? I love the family but I feel like they don't listen to me when I say what my vacation needs are. They go on vacation a lot and at really random times when I don't go on vacation. Help!!
