1) At the beginning of a bike trip, on a trial that goes due North Devon noticed that he was 5km south of a rundown shack. If the midpoint of his ride was 4km North of the rundown shack, how far did Devon have to travel?

2) If Yolanda is 34 miles east from Chee, Kimi is 32 miles west of Gloria, Gloria is 59 miles east of Chee. How many miles is Yolanda from Kimi?

3) If Mark is 8km west of a water tower and Terrel is 5 km east of the same water tower. relative to the water tower what is the midpoint of the positions of mark and terrel?

1) Is the shack right on the trail, or some distance from the trail? Is the trail linear? If the trail is linear, and the shack is right on the trail, draw a coordinate line with:
*) the shack at the origin
*) Devon's starting location at x=-5
*) The midpoint of Devon's trip at x=-4.

Use the same approach (coordinate line) for the other problems.
