Please let me know what you think. Do you want to know more?Who is your fave character? What is your age group? Thanks!

I never met my mother. She perished in an accident along with my sister, Alexa. My father told me he would explain it to me "When the time is right". She and my sister
had understated beauty. Long, brown hair, with a touch of reddish blonde. Their eyes peered out of the photo that sat on my dresser.

When I was eight years old, my mother visited me once after her "accident". She sat down next to me as I lay on my bed. I recognized her from the photo that sat on my
dresser.
"Cade, my dear boy. You don't know me, do you sweetie?". Her tone was soft and caring. I instantly trusted her.
"You look like my mommy". I sat up to hug her.
She stood up. I was confused.
"Cade, if you touch me, I will have to go away..... You don't want that, do you?"
" No, mommy".
, " Cade, you know how special you are, do you not?"
I said nothing
"The lights you see, the colors. It is a very special gift."
"Daddy says the lights are only for me. I'm not supposed to tell anyone."
My mother giggled. "Cade, I already know. I knew before you were born. There are no secrets between us. Come, tell me everything."
We sat down on the bed.
"Mommy, I have a friend. Her name is Chloe. She is pretty, and nice, and she visits me alot. I really like her."
Her eyebrows furrowed, then she sighed.

My mother was beautiful, her lights spectacular. Instead of the usual colors of the rainbow: the pastel greens, blues, yellows,
and deep red I see when someone is angry, or sometimes the black when a true "Grim Shadow" is in my presence, My mother had brilliant white, and a distinct dark teal barrier
that encaged her lights.

Chloe came when my mother was sitting next to me on my bed. She wisped through the window, as she always had before, and I could feel the breeze as she entered my room.
I always thought she had an understated beauty, and often hoped she would marry my father . My mother stood, faced Chloe, and told me to come to her. I stepped inside her
barrier with ease. It was warm in her light, and it made me feel queezy. I witnessed ice forming on the windows, noticed the temperature gauge just outside my room. 93 degrees.
The candles in my room flickered, then gave up, smoke rising from them. It was dark, but the full moon shone in, illuminating my room. I could see everything.

Chloe looked at my mother, her expression contorted. Her green eyes now filled with deep purple. Gazing at my mother, Her face twisted with madness, a look that I could
only ascertain in my young mind as someone who has just commited some wretched act, something I could not yet understand.

Chloe's body jerked, her clothes ripped. Blood trickled from her pores. She crouched, wings spreading across her back. I could see talons forming where her hands used to be.
her body looked ancient, her face blue, veins popping, mouth slightly open, and I could see the fangs that protruded from where her canines used to be. Urine streamed
down my pajamas. Astounded, I watched Chloe transform herself into this wretched being I did not recognize.
Chloe stood up, breathing in all her lungs would allow, and looked down at us.

"Well, now, what do we have here? Death serves you well, Marisah. Nice light." Her eyes bored into my mother. I wondered how Chloe knew her.
"Yes, MY light."..."Back off Chloe." My mother smirked, her voice flat, with a sense of entitlement.
I noticed her white light turning grey.
"Cade, come to me. I will not harm you. There is much for you to learn" Her voice sounded raspy, like years of abuse, aged.
My mother stepped forward, ready for battle, scared but brave.
"TSK TSK! Let's not be hasty Marisah. All of us knew this would happen eventually." All of us? Happen? I thought.
"Who sent you Chloe? The takers?"..." I won't allow it. He's my child!"
"The Takers. Pfft. Marisah, we both know...."
"Stop!"
My mother cut her off mid sentence.

Distracted, Chloe's face softened as she looked at me, her voice a quiet whisper."
" Ahhh, Marisah, you're child... of course." she kneeled towards me, her gruesome face softened as much as it could be.

I watched as Chloe gently slipped the bracelet from her wrist, cuffed it in her talons, and tenderly reached out to give it to me.
"Cade, I want to show you something".
Slowly, I could see Chloe's hands forming back to normal. Her eyes were turning green again, her body slowly converting to her original self.

Desperately, I lifted my eye's to my mother. I felt the intense energy all around now, seeping into my
