Plot help for murder?

I'm afraid I'm just not cruel enough to think up a really terrible murder. Sigh... But, I still want to write my wanna-be detective character into her first truly gruesome case. It's set in the real world, so it can't be something too copy-cat-ish without changing the plot. Any good ideas?
 
Make it that this psycho-path captures people off the street and feeds them poisons and deadly things... if they survive after one week, he or she lets them go
 
I don't get it. You don't have the imagination to think up a crime, but you want to write crime genre?
I would have thought that you should pick a different genre. Maybe if you have a good detective character, she could be a supporting character in a genre that suits you better.
