Pontiac Grand Prix short or obscure safety feature?

I have a 2004 pontiac grand prix and every time I hit the brakes to slow or stop, the radio volume fades some. Once I accelerate again, it comes back up. I was wondering if this is a short in the system or some obscure safety feature? I can't find anything that would indicate a safety feature.
