If Jews and Muslims cannot eat Pork because of Trichinosis, then why can they eat beef which can cause tapeworm infections, not to mention food poisoning, salmonella and ecoli infection?
Pigs are quite clean in the wild. How people farm them is another thing.
In regards to eating pork, it is Trichinosis which make pigs unclean or unhealthful to eat.
It could be as simple as there having been a big problem (i.e., an outbreak) with pork at a certain point in time in that area of the world, and, not having science, they just made it a taboo, and it stuck.
In Judaism you're not allowed to eat a beast, beef animals were always used as victims for god.
And since when beef causes infections and food poisoning?
yes i don't like pigs nor their meat... but the idea is we don't eat pork coz we don't like it, or because of Trichinosis. we just don't eat it coz it is Haram... i trust my God & trust his wisdom.. yes, that simple.
also, i believe that almost always Allah has put something Halal (allowed), & another Haram of the same kind. e.g. marriage is allowed but extramarital sex is Haram, earn money but don't steal, lend money but don't make benefit (Reba, usury),... etc.
so, u find a human leaving the much Halal & sneaking around the minor Haram thing merely coz it is forbidden!!
i hope u got it, it is about Sharia, & not salmonella or trichinella spiralis
First of all, it's not just Islam & Judaism that forbids pork. You can actually find it in the Bible, but Christians think their law has been rid of (thanks to Paul).
Leviticus 11:7-8
"And the swine, though he divided the hoof, and be clovenfooted, yet he cheweth not the cud; he is unclean to you."
Secondly, it is unlawful because it is not a clean animal, not because of Trichinosis.
answer: Kosher isn't because of health reasons, though many believe it is. Health reasons doesn't explain some of the prohibited/allowed creatures nor why kosher applies to things other than food as well.
one theory is that some creatures were the focus of pagan feasting - pork, shellfish, etc. By being unable to eat those items, Jews were separated from the surrounding pagans. By having the prohibitions, Jews are focused on what is allowed and what isn't - focusing on the religion and not on indulgences.
