FTA warrant? Iwas living in Massachusetts for the past 7 years, came back to Florida on vacation in 2007 and was arrested for a dui ( they gave me back my license because I blew under the legal limit, but because I had prescription drugs in my system I was charged with a DUI which I was pleading not guilty to. I was working with a public defender through emails from Massachusetts to try and resolve the issue. The public defender put in paperwork to appear on my behalf.. after several continuances it was time for pre trial - i get an email from a new public defender stating he was taking over my case... well to make a long story a little bit shorter - this public defender did not put in the paperwork stating he was appearing on my behalf and I received an email from him stating I now have an FTA warrant!!! There was nothing I could do about the warrant at the time due to the fact that I lived so far away... Fast forward three years.. I had to move back to Florida six months ago to help my father out (health issues) .. My plan was to get a job, earn enough money to cover my bond and then go and turn myself in on the warrant... It has taken a while to find employment.. Now my Massachusetts license has expired and I just started a new job and so I have to get a current ID within three days in order to continue employment.. .. I would much rather turn myself in than be arrested but I have no choice.. I have to take the chance and try to get an ID... so.. What are the chances that I will be arrested at the DMV while trying to obtain a Florida ID? I am going to go and try regardless of the answers but I thought I'd ask for opinions here ( the warrant is in a different county.. but only 3 hours from here)
