power steering failure?

my astra has been stuck in the snow for 2 days and when i went to drive it today the power steering wasnt working. is this a big problem as my car is needed to to take us on hols next week!!

what age is it is their a battery warning light on your dash and how long did you run the car once you got it clear of the snow
