Premonitions about impending death... is there a pragmatic explanation?

Four times in the past twelve years I have become aware of the impending deaths of people I know.

I am not a superstitious person but the latest case has got me thinking. Is there a pragmatic explanation for this phenomenon, that I seem sensitive to on a completely random basis?

In the first instance my rugby coach was diagnosed with terminal cancer, and I KNEW before he told me or ANYONE else, even his children, that he was dying.

The second time a friend went to go and fuel up his car, and I KNEW I would not see him alive again (he had not been drinking and the roads were clear- he swerved to miss a rabbit and crashed).

The third and fourth times were similar.

Is there a reasonable explanation for these events, without being melodramatic or spooky-wooky?

Thanks.

Most likely an illusory correlation. You likely have had several "premonitions" throughout your life, but only ones that come true are worth remembering. Therefore, you recall a near 100% accuracy even though it is far lower.
