Problem with a stereo adapter?

I just got my Planet Waves stereo adapter, and I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong. I plugged my cable into my Ibanez IJX30, then to the adapter, then to the microphone jack on my computer..I have FreeAmp and a couple of other VSTs, and I can hear feedback, but no sound from my guitar.
