proper weight use and movement, while weightlifting?

when i go to do my day of lats in the gym, i find that the day after i am not sore, mildly even, i think it is because i am either using the wrong weight (but ive tried to use smaller and larger weight), or im using the right technique.
could you please help me out, thanks
