Putting music on the psp(im a little confused)?

i got told to make a folder in the drive my psp comes up as to put music in. so i went on doing this..... i clicked on it and it says insert disk..... i put in a movie put didnt change anything.... i bought off a friend and thats all that came with it.. serious help please
