question about 16gb ipad?!?

how come when the ipad came out in april the ipad box showed a dark blue backgrounfd with mediors and the latest ipad has like a grayish blue watery type of background on the box?
 
There is absolutely no difference in the ipads except that the ones with the water droplets shipped with updated firmware. They are exactly the same ipads if you update the software via itunes.
