Question about Upgrading with VERIZON?

Okay, my family is on a 2yr plan. And I'm pretty sure it's up or is very close to being up. Anyways, I was wondering how much it costs to upgrade to another VERIZON phone? For example, if I wanted the Envy Touch or the Droid, I wouldn't have to pay the entire price like I would if I was just looking to buy a phone. Or does it not matter? Like is there an upgrading fee? Thanks
