Question about Verizon contracts?

I want to switch providers, but I'm stuck in a loop hole. I can't tell when my contract is over because I'm not the account holder, and the account holder has passed away. What steps do I need to take to have the account switched over, because there is apparently some magic password necessary to do everything.
 
You would need to contact Verizon Customer Care and tell them that the account holder has passed away. Of course they will ask for any documentation, you could tell them that you could fax over a copy of the death certificate of the account holder. From there, Verizon would be able to release any information to you as long as there are no other parties on that account.
