Quote from the Pendergast Series by Douglas Preston and Lincoln Child about Atheist?

I'm not exactly sure what book it was but I believe Pendergast was talking about something where an "atheist's something." it was described that the person was atheist all of his life until he was on his death where he confessed all of his sins and repented with god.

Any ideas? also if you knew any other information like what book or what page that would be cool too but just the name of the actual thing would be cool too!
