first rule of thumb,if you've got clean good fuel going to the plug, and a good spark,it should run.if the Oil that came out of the engine is emulsified, meaning it's contaminated with water.i wonder if your engine crank seals have gone?.is it a two stroke engine?.water in the petrol won't help

little bit of info about it.. 2004 model never had trouble with it not starting before, last time it was running was last october, i had left a can of petrol outside in the rain 1 night and didnt realise stupid me put the it in the tank it started went about 200yards started splutterin and konked out i drained all of the fuel put new fuel in and it never started again, so it sat in the garage all winter and now im trying to get it running again, i have cleaned the air & fuel filters, cleaned the carb out completely, new plug, changed the oil (the oil that came out of it was a whitey guey stuff ) after all that it still wouldnt start so i bought a can of starting fluid, i spray it in the carb and take the plug out and spray it in there it will start first kick and run for about 5 seconds then cuts out. So i thought i would take the head gasket off to have a look in the engine , i managed to get 3 of the bolts off but the last 1 would not come out at all and i ended up stripping it i am not an expert at engines i just know basics, is there anything i can do to get it running again or should i take it to a garage to let them look at it ££££££
