The reason I ask is because where I live most cop start out at 19-22 a hour starting out, also if your a cop can you pick your own gun you want to use ? like Springfield xd 45. Or 9mm or colt 45? Or only Glock ?

No, it is not likely a rookie would make 100K. Even at $22 per hour, that is about 45K per year. Your overtime rate is normally 1 1/2 times your regular rate, which would be $33 per hour. You would have to work an additional 30 hours a week overtime.

It is also not likely you will get to select your own weapon. Departments will almost always issue a specific weapon. The do this for liability reasons. If they allow everyone to carry their own weapon, they are still liable if something goes wrong. Having the same gun as everyone else also makes training much easier.

One of the highest paid departments I know of is San Francisco. They start you at about $72K per year, so it would not take long to make 100K with overtime, but the cost of living is very high there, so it doesn't go as far as you would think.

Well in my city, where I said a 5 year tac or detective can make $100,000 a recruit in the academy makes $47,000.Just like between your town and my city you cannot compare.
Many towns issue a duty weapon and authorize certain off duty weapons.
My city an officer buys his own but can only choose from .38 spec., 9mm, .40 S&W and .45 ACP.
From any of these makers: Springfield, S&W, Ruger, Sig, Glock. Add Colt if you're talking .38 spec.
If your old you can carry a .38 revolver as a duty weapon, otherwise you carry a semi and you can have a .38 revolver as a backup or off duty weapon
Nationwide for those that issue currently the most popular round in .40 S&W and the most popular weapons are polymer in some form of DAO
