reaction prediction major help?

a friend told me that if i had an acid on my reactant side, then i would have H2O on my product side. if this is so, then would it only be for double-replacement and single-replacement reactions, or just one or the other?

That is true for and single and double replacement... more specifically when both an acid and a base are on the reactant side.
