Rear Pre out/ sub pre out?

the rear pre-out is used for if you are hooking up 6x9s or other interior speakers to an amplifier....if you have subwoofers that you are trying to hook up you wanna use the sub pre out. the sub pre out is usually non-fading which means that you can make all the adjustments you want to your headunit to optimize the sound from your 6x9s and such without effecting the sound going to the subs
 
It means it can be used either as a rear speaker pre out, or subwoofer pre out. I used to have a head unit like this, and you can control what signal it puts out from the headunit itself. If you're using it for subwoofers, then use set it to subwoofer and visa versa.
