I saw this interesting device in some video a while ago, and i would like to know what it is and how does it work. The guys who were using it are musicians working on ambient music. The device was connected into an input on an amplifier or audio mixer (dont remember exactly). They were using it by placing and moving it near the sources of electromagnetic radiation - like a cell phone, computer case, monitor, speaker, and so on. Every device gave a different kind of sound. I guess it is not a microphone, at least not in a conventional way, but it acts like that - only that, it doesnt record disturbances of air, but the disturbances of electromagnetic field - and converts it into sound.
As i said, i would be grateful if someone could tell me if that device has a common name, and how it works. I hope i was clear enough
