Reformed Judaism Question?

I attended a reformed Jewish congregation. At one point during a prayer, everyone turned around and faced the back of the room. Why?

They were welcoming the Sabbath "bride". It's part of the service, and it's less Reform, and more Conservative/Orthodox.

It's sort of like when you stand and welcome the bride into the chapel for her wedding, except that this is a spiritual entity, not a real person.

And it's REFORM, NOT Reformed.
