regular cab pickup or extended cab pickup?

im looking for a pickup and im trying to decide between a regular cab or an extended cab. I would like an 8 foot box to haul my snowmobile but if you put that with an extended cab the truck is too long... i do alot of hunting and i would like space to put my heavy clothes and my gun... can you slide a rifle (in its case) behind the seat of a regular cab truck or a toolbox i can put in the box but can be easily taken out?
