My boyfriend is is fixing up a 1978 Ford Thunderbird. He is currently replacing the Blower Motor, the problem is that he is having difficulty getting the old one out to put in the new one. He can get it to move so far out, but then it won't come out anymore because it hits the wall and there is no way he can wiggle it out. He could take the wall out or apart, but the issue there is that it was put together by the manufacturer and would basically be impossible for him to put back together. He wants to do this himself, anyone have any ideas?Advice? Just throw out an ideas or experiences you've had.

A very tough job on those t-birds. Remove the dash and you can get it. We used to kid about them they were so hard - said we had to remove the windshield and the back seats.

The heater plenum chamber needs to be removed to gain access to the motor. It isn't an easy job if the vehicle has A/C because of the ducting. Just take it slow and I recommend getting a shop manual to aid in doing it properly.

the fan blower motor is not as difficult as all that. he most likely needs to remove the glove box to get the clearance to come out. some important points here for him, the fan facia, the part the screws go thru to hold it to the fan housing, is only going to fit 1 way, also some fans have a vent tube for the fan motor to cool and this tube must be removed (its rubber) the glove box is probably able to be lowered by squeezing the 2 arms inward a tiny bit while lowering the door. my 80 bird used to have fuses back there.and the fuse box needed to be moved aside a little for clearance. remember behind the motor assembly is a 4 1/4 inch deep plastic squirell cage attached to the motor that must clear the housing.
