Republicans, do you really believe that Santorum can beat President Obama?

I'm seriously wondering. I believe if he gets the nomination, Obama just got re-elected. Santorum is too conservative for most Americans, in my opinion. I believe Romney is the only one who can beat Obama.

Santorum won't be the nominee anyway. Ron Paul actually got most of the delegates from the caucus states, which is where Santorum got his wins. Paul is actually 2nd to Romney in delegates and neither Gingrich nor Santorum can win a majority due to their inability to get on ballots and field full slates of delegates, even if they win the popular vote. Presidential primaries are less democratic than general elections.

Of course, every poll says that Paul is the most electable and Romney is 2nd most electable among the final 4, but I believe most Gingrich and Santorum supporters actually think their candidates can win. Certain cable news networks misinform around half of the GOP.

Actually, from my (pro-Paul) perspective, Santorum is a counterfeit conservative who supports unions, NCLB, Planned Parenthood funding and other liberal positions when he's not running for office. Santorum also endorsed Arlen Spector instead of Pat Toomey in 2004, which is why Obamacare became law. I know firsthand that he cost Senator Toomey the 2004 primary because I live in PA. Of the not-Paul candidates, I think Romney is the most conservative. Gingrich and Santorum are just crazy RINOs that can't win. Of course, Paul probably won't win the nomination because he is factually correct about Iran as both sides of the establishment media are trying to lie us into another Iraq by portraying a power plant as a nuclear weapon.

I'm a Republican and conservative and I see Santorum as a RINO (Republican in Name Only), but of all the RINO's in this race, he is at the mid point.....Romney is far left on the GOP book scale, Newt is far right and Ron Paul is extreme right.

Oops, forgot to add.....Bottom line, whoever wins the primary, all Republican voters will be on board with him.

This is the reason for primaries, so the membership speaks up and votes on who they want, not just because the GOP leadership says so.

I don't think Obama will have the same impact with the young and minorities as he did last election, so the battle will be harder for him this year. There are also a lot of annoyed Independents.
