A shop sells apples at $1 each. Each of these apples are wrapped in a special wrapper. You can trade 3 of these wrappers for 1 apple.
If you have $15, how many apples can you get altogether?
Hint:
Don't forget your leftovers.
21 apples. 15 apples with the $15 you have. Then you have 15 wrappers so you can trade those in for 5 more apples. Then you have 5 more wrappers so you can trade 3 of those in for another apple with 2 wrappers leftover.
15+5+1=21
Exactly like Tiff's answer, but her last apple comes with a wrapper, which when used with the other two leftover wrappers buys one more apple (which itself comes with a wrapper, the one remaining leftover wrapper)
ok simple. with yo $15 u go and buy 15 apples. this gives you 15 wrappers and for every three you get an apple so you trade in 15 wrappers for 3 apples. this gives you a total of 18 apples!!!! am i right or am i right huh???
