Giving the sequence:
8 11 5 4 9 1 7 6 10 13 3 12 2
Where would the number 14 fit in?
I got this problem in class last week and need some help from you bright people at Yahoo Answers to help me solve it. I've been frustrated by this riddle all weekend, I think it has something to do with addition and subtraction like you can see the 5 and 4 equal 9, then 1 - 7 equals 6 etc. The only problem with that is the 8 and 11 stick out and make no sense. The other way I have done it is taking the difference between the numbers (like between 8 and 11 we have 3 numbers, I then wrote down all the numbers and got: 3, 6, 1, 5, 8, 6, 1, 4, 3, 10, 9, 10.) looking at this you can see that the number 14 is between a 6 and a 3 so the answer must be in the middle of 6 and 3 which means 14 must fit between 13 and 10. Idunno, I've tried odds and evens, circles, and lines. Am I right, or does anyone have some advice.
Please help!
Thank you!
