Road Bike Rims/Tires for my Specialized Hardrock?

Hey, I have a specialized hardrock but i ride roads. I don't wanna drop the money for a road bike because I don't ride too often, so I'm looking to replace my rims/tires with road. what size will i need if my current tires are 26"? Also, will I need to replace any other parts for these? (chainwheels, etc.)
