Rookie at the gym, having problems, what should i do ?

Im really keen on getting fit. Ive only been going to the gym for a couple weeks and i am having some problems. I got a three day split all good but i aint strong enough to change the machines so i can work my other muscles. For example the seat to go from bench press to sholder press. pretty embarassing but i can live with it. I forgot about my water bottle and some one stole it. bastards but aye its part of life. What should i do ? i ask a personal trainer to change it for me at the moment do i keep it up ? im guess i just need motivation i aint gonna stop but it does mess with my ego alot. Is this sorta stuff normal for a skinny kid ? thanks
