Rumor's suck!!! help!!!?

there are so many rumor's in my school and i hate them. if someone at one end of the school says something, it will be like chinese wispers [broken telephone] untill it gets so wrong and idiotic that some smart person stops the rumor.
there are some rumors about me aswell, and i have some idea's about who is starting them but i can't be sure. i really need help. what can i do to get these stupid rumors to hush up!!!!!
