Rumours spreading about me?

I'm gay and a few months ago I came out to some close friends. It felt much better to finally have those people know and accept me for it and so far it has been fine. However, I think someone who isn't a friend whatsoever has found out and has told a few people. It puts me in a difficult position as I go to a very homophobic school and should the rumour spread I would be bullied quite a lot for it.
I can't talk to this person as well because I'm not sure for certain he knows and asking him would give it away for sure.
It's a bit worrying for me at the moment and I was wondering how best to deal with the situation.

Im in the situtation and its horrible. The rumors have been spread about me and this guy and its true but i dont want everyone to know. its depressing and lonley. the only advice i can give you is to just fade into the background and sit at the back of the class and try not to be noticed until they die down. :)

Don't worry much about what others think of you. What's important is what you think of yourself. The only thing to worry about is your safety around a bunch of homophobes. Just watch your back but don't worry about what others think.

You will be just fine, and let them talk all they want. Like Grandma would say: "Pick your Friends like You Pick your Fruit".

Be like me, and don't give a flying f*** what people think! There will always be someone talking bad about you. It's up to you whether you let it get to you or not.

You need to learn to stop caring what other people think. Who cares? You're going to get support, but you're going to get hate too. Just ignore them. They'll stop.

It matters little to me that what people are saying about me in my absence is good or bad, so long as they're talking about me. As long as people are talking about me, it most certainly means that they have chosen me as a topic for conversation.

When they stop talking, that is when I will start worrying.
