I wonder if anyone can clarify the situation regarding fitness testing. If you re required to pass a fitness test for your job is it naive to assume that your employer would give you time to train in order to pass that test, as they do in the Armed Forces. I ask this question as I work for a Government Agency that requires a certain percentage of staff to pass a fitness test. Staff that are on the newer amended contracts have to pass a fitness test. The fitness testing is done in Company time and whilst I think it is good that people are having to consider their fitness levels and do some training, I think it's rather bad that the company gives them no training and/or support in order to pass this test and just threatens them with the sack. How would they stand if they decided to challenge the test legally?
As an ex-serving soldier in the British Army for 16 years, who also runs marathons for health, motivation and fitness, I ask this question on behalf of some colleagues who do not have the time to train much in their own time due to family commitments etc....thanks in advance for the serious answers and to the idiot below.....go and get a life you useless idiot.
