samsung ace gt5830i wont connect via usb?

i can connect it to comp via usb and it will charge the phone but i cant take off my voideos and pics.if i go into computer it doesnt even show as being on?..what am i doing wrong?
enabaled debugging and still nothing ahhhhhhhhhh
downloaded kies..works brilliant easy to use.thanks
