Soo I finally graduated from high school and also my two-year contract is finished for my phone. My parents said they would get me ANY phone if I also paid for half for a graduation present. I was looking at the beastly Galaxy s2 but sadly t-mobile doesn't sell :(.

So is it possible for my sim card to work for this phone even though its not t-mobile retailed? If so, where is the cheapest I can get it? Right now i see 800 as the cheapest @_@

thanks!

There is no problem if your mobile is not T-Mobile retailed. You can get your Samsung Galaxy S2 from some other provider and use your T-mobile SIM by unlocking it. Since all the mobile are locked to specific network you cannot use it with other network provider. Unlocking is the process which releases the lock and enables you to use all networks in your mobile. You can ask the network provider for the unlock codes. First you need to use the following instructions to check if your mobile is locked or not:
Switch on your mobile phone with a SIM card from a network other than the network you are currently with. If you are able to use the phone, you can be sure that your phone is not locked. If your phone displays an error message saying "Wrong sim" or "Incorrect sim" or "Emergency calls only", etc., then your phone is probably locked.
If your network provider doesnt give the code you can approach any mobile store or online website for the unlock codes. A good website which provides unlock codes is TheUnlockArena.com . You just need to give them with few of your phone details and make an order. When the codes are available they will be sent to you with the instructions. For any queries relating unlocking you check out the FAQ in the above mentioned site.

Is it possible to use a Samsung Galaxy SII on 3g or 4g networks with T-mobile as my carrier? If so, will I be able to accomplish this by using unlock codes from theunlockarena.com? Or, if after getting the codes, will I only be able to use 2g (Edge) network?

Thank you in advance.
Frank
