Samsung Galaxy S3: battery discharges at a fast rate..?

I heard all these saying of don't overcharge your phone. and with the GS3, after it reaches 100% the notifications want me to unplug the charger. new models generally don't have any overcharge problems. but it still feels like my battery drains too fast and I'm not doing much but texting. no games. I recently switched from the iPhone and charging the iPhone all thru the night lasts me to the whole day; regardless how many times I play game apps, surf the net, talk and text. i slept without charging my phone at night (still fearing the "don't overcharge rule") and the battery drained from 30% to 16% in 6 hours, even when i turned off the wifi, my bluetooth connection, power saver mode on, and closed all recent apps. I don't understand why the discharge rate of my GS3 is so fast. I just got it on Black Friday ):
