Samsung I7500 Android 1.5 disable lock during calls?

Hey guys I have a Samsung Galaxy I7500 android 1.5 phone. It has a little sensor on the top near the ear piece that turns off the screen when you hold it up to your dead during a call. I noticed after the screen goes dark, even if you pull it away, the touchscreen nolonger works for the remainder of the call. I can't press the number buttons without using the keys on the phone.

Does Android 1.5 have an option to disable that sensor? I'll just be careful not to press the screen with my ear...
