*BRAND NEW SYSTEM, NO WINDOWS INSTALLED*

IM NOT A NOOB :)

So I've just given my system the first boot...everything working shmick, and BIOS is recognizing CPU, RAM, Blu Ray Drive, Hard drive.

Ive set the first boot device to the blu ray drive to install the operating system. I get to the installation screen and I choose custom install. When it says to install the operating system on the hard drive, it says no hard drive detected?? Its a brand new seagate 500gb 7200 rpm, no jumpers on.

So why is it recognised in the BIOS but when I try to install the operating system its not there?

Ive tried everything from changing SATA cables, changing BIOS settings, adding drivers from the Motherboard disc...NOTHING. When I click on drive C in the windows installation it says "This disk needs to be formatted". When I click format now it says windows cannot format because it might be "read-only" Why would a brand new drive be set to read-only? All of this just doesnt make sense.

PLEASE HELP!!!
