Scary! Are these premonitions? A special connexion?

I've been having those weird dreams about my ex throughout the year.

At the beginning of the year, I had a dream that he gave me a letter and that I was sad while reading it. Four months later, I read something about him on Facebook and we broke up.

Two months after, I dreamt that he was in an car accident, and I was crying. Bumped into him the following day at the library.

This month, 2 days in a row I dreamt that I was at my wedding with my new unknown husband, and that he was there stalking me. What happened again? Next day I bumped into him at Burger King.

What it that? It doesn't happen with anybody else except him!

We still talk to each other, from time to time but that's it.

Is it some kind of premonition? Or a special connexion I have towards him?

I'm a bit scared by that...

<A special [connection]?> I don't know--let's think about it. So, you and your ex-husband both live in the same neighborhood, and you keep bumping into each other. What are the odds? And you keep dreaming about someone with whom you were intimate with on a daily basis for a number of years? Why would that possibly happen? Yes, there must be some otherworldly powers at work here.

<It doesn't happen with anybody else except him!> Actually, chances are that you do indeed run into other people occasionally, but because you don't know them, and especially because none of them are your ex-spouse, you simply don't notice them. If you could track the presence of every other person you contact, you'd see some of the same faces crop up from time to time. Another difference is that you don't dream about all of those strangers, you dream about your ex-husband because, well, he's your ex. And the events you mention happened months apart. I'm willing to bet that you had other dreams about him in the meantimes, but that you didn't run into him the next day, so you're conveniently forgetting about those. That's cognitive bias, the famous Gambler's Fallacy, where you remember the hit/wins but forget the misses/losses. Why would you be scared by that?
