School closures and my son asking 'cant they walk?'?

my son, aged five, who has been stuck at home with me for days due to a bit of snow on the ground (i have been out in it in my car and its a bit dodgy but driveable), is asking why he cannot go to school. i told him because teachers were scared to go in their cars because the roads were icy.

so he said, 'cant they walk?'

how do you answer that one, and more importantly, how do the schools answer it?
