Sci-fi/fantasy story ideas?

A sentence popped into my head that I'm really fond of and I want to work it into a story somehow, but every idea I have keeps turning into Doctor Who. There's nothing wrong with writing fanfics in my opinion, but I just don't want to.

"You can't give someone the universe and then just snatch it back."

That's the sentence. Anyone care to help me come up with a story for it?
 
Hmm, maybe a story about someone helping another person rise to power, and then they begin to feel jealous of that person and try to oust them so they can take over instead.
 
You could use Issac Asimov I-robot series for Inspiration on the sci-fi side, and maybe some Inspiration from the Belgariad series by David Eddings for fantasy, (no product placement went into this answer) hope that helps
