Congrats! You are about the 31st person, I know that has seen this. I'm here to save the NEWS corp. YU55 was a dud, so I thought I would share three things I saw that day.
Just getting out the word. I've had 18 months at this and while I've found iridium gas in volcanoes, I still have to say this is pretty cool. And the trajectory of the fireball matches up well. In my opinion, the asteroid came in nearly invisible like they always do in the lab. It bounced off the subject, just like in the lab. And after billions of years orbiting the Universe, re-entered the atmosphere somewhere in Nebraska, landing in Wisconsin 5 hours later. Minutes really. It was a little bit of everything and even some things we've never seen.
Sometimes they come in nice and slow and I get a really good look.
1. Asteroid 2010 GA6 is at close approach: 4-14-2010: JPL Small-Body Database Browser
2. Eyjafjallajökull erupts 4-14-2010: 2010 eruptions of Eyjafjallajökull - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
3. Fireball Over Midwest 4-14-2010: [ame="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QwI3ivVX6Qc&feature=fvst"]Rare fireball passes over Northeast Wisconsin Wednesday nigh - YouTube[/ame]
Hope this helps
Have a great day!
