screen names vs. real names

Let me guess, HammerFist Jones?

Sounds like a good name for a book, or an action figure, or something.

I can see the commercial now:

Hammerfist Jones swoops in to save the day with his Hammerfist chopper.
Jones: Bad guys don't stand a chance against the fist!
All vehicles and figures sold separately.

What kind of parent would you have to be to call your kid HammerFist? Is your brother's name BulldozerThighs? Hey I think I met your cousins, CrowbarHeel and BuzzsawEyebrows.

I don't feel the need to use my real name to back up anything I say; I post in good faith and I assume that others are doing the same. In a discussion, it's my opinion, if I'm posting news, I state my source. I'll post relevant information in my profile, but nothing that automatically means I can be identified - you people are just too weird! Seriously though, posting real names, contact details etc is a bad idea - I've been mildly stalked before and it wasn't fun; giving people over the 'net information that can be used for that purpose is just asking for trouble in my opinion

All this reminds me...
couple of years ago.... One of the Ashida kim's boy toy wanted to kill me, I gave him my address, he is yet to be seen...

Thanks everyone for your replies!I hope nobody was offended, that was not the intent.I respect all of you for whatever you decide to use, screen name or real name.I do however oncourage all of you to complete as much of you user profile as possible. At least aprox age, gender, art, years experience and area of the world you reside. It helps readers of your posts understand you more. For example:If a beginning students asks a question about a self-defense scenerio,I would reply differently to a 40's female who lives in a small town in Minnesota than I would a 17 yr old male who lives in the Bronx,NY.

erm my s/n is what alot of peopl in reality knw me as and I sue it on sevral forum bu I also use my real name ocaionally.
Im not to terrbily worried about someone traking me donw using my name and where I live, if they really wanted to they could track me down usin gmy Ip adress.
And whether or not i use my real name or not doesnt matter cuz I post what I think and that would be the same wheter I am using Cudgel or Ian woolley, which as far as I know there is only one person using that aname in Southern california so it wouldn be hard to find.

As with HammerFist, The Mighty McClaw is my real name. There's a poem to prove it, too:

My mother was a mountain,
my father was a thunderstorm.
When I was born,
the gods cried for mercy.
My blood runs with molten iron,
my heart is made a stone.
My skin is steel,
my bones cannot be broken.
My eyes are fire,
My voice is thunder.
A boulder is my meat,
an ocean is my wine.
When I walk,
the earth quakes
When I shout,
thunderclaps ring through the air
When my name is heard,
cities empty.
A thousand men I have fought,
and a thousand men I have slain.
War is my squire,
death is my mistress.
I am the Stormbringer and the Earthshaker,
I am the King of Heaven and the Lord of Hell,
I AM THE MIGHTY MCCLAW!
