I am searching for a sci-fi movie, but I can remember only few details. It is mainly about a man and a woman who are in a spaceship (alone?) traveling back to earth (or another planet). She is a stowaway, and they are not allowed to land if the spacecraft carries too much weight, which is now the case. So they remove everything out of the craft (paneling, cables etc.) in order to reduce weight. I do not remember exactly, but in the end the man sacrifices himself to reduce the weight even further.
