I fabricated suicide attempts while I was in AIT (8 years ago) and received honorable discharge from the Army. My friend was already in the service and I took his advice, step-by-step, in how to make this hapen.

It is something I feel very ashamed of and I wish I had not gone through it. I tried to reenlist but my RE code and reason code (jfx or something) specify of these suicide attempts and no recruiter will work with me in getting back in the service.

My problem is that, I had wished to work for defense contractors such as northrob or general dynamics, and have been preparing myself for these IT positions. I went out there and got myself certified in Comtia and CCNA which took 2 years and substantial cost in tuition.

But now I am discovering that, with my fabricated suicide attempts from 8 years ago, it is very much certain that I will never be given any kind of security clearance, ever!

My question is that, if I ever was hired as PC technician which requires security clearance, and my boss is kind enough to work with me in getting the clearance (after explaining him about my fabricated attempts), what are the chances that this can happen for me?

I know that most of you who answer my question will not like what I have done (to get out) and probably think I should be severely punished for what I have done. I do not blame you at all. What I have done is stupid, reckless, not to mention illegal. I have regreted of this for the past 8 years. For the past 4 years, I have been trying to get a job with federal government but was denied because I fit into none of "Who may apply" categories such as current GS, NAF exployees, VEOA elligible, etc, etc. I do not have 5 point veteran's preference because my 200 day service with Army was only during the traing and they do not count it towards VEOA. I really had it rough and have been unemployeed long enough. After years of trying, i am now discovering about I am NOT going to be given any clearances and i do NOT qualify as 5pt veterans preference. Yes I am not a very smart person.

But if you can see past idiotic behavior from my 20s and guide me into the right direction, I would really appreciate it.

Sorry for the long post and below I list my question again for your review:

Thank you all.
