Serious questions about Capture Cards.?

I heard that Capture Cards can record off the TV and then I am able to upload them later on my computer/laptop so I can upload them on youtube. And thats what I want to do, I want to upload me playing my video games (Super Smash Bros Brawl, Guitar Hero, etc.) instead of using my cell phone with all the bad quality.

My questions are:
What kind of Capture Card do I need?
How dose it work?
Where can I buy them and how much do they cost?
Are there any other tools/programs in order for me to place the videos recorded into my laptop?

Please give very specific details and show me a couple of pictures of how a good capture card looks like. Thank you.

I don't want to buy them online. I just want to buy them at a store.

I've never used one of these but for a laptop this may be a good choice (link below) and it's cheap. It would plug into the output from your TV and into you laptops USB port. It comes with Ulead Video Studio SE to capture the video. It gets decent reviews at Amazon (second link).
