Because the theory of evolution is one of the main supports for an Atheistic world view. Obviously if life is the result of "special creation" then they don't have a leg to stand on when it comes to the belief that there is no divine being whom others refer to as "God".
Because evolution highlights everything that is wrong with fundamentalists' beliefs.
They believe everything in the bible is literally true, and that obviously conflicts with evolution.
Sadly for them, the evidence for evolution is overwhelming so, deep down, they know this undermines everything they believe in. Rather than trying to re-assess their beliefs (not necessarily rejecting their whole religion), they choose to reject proven reality.
No, it is not clear. Einstein once said, "If the facts don't fit the theory, change the facts." It was supposed to be a joke, but that's what scientists are doing today. We see it happening in the USA's FDA. The FDA lies to consumers when they say many artificial ingredients are safe to eat. All independent testing done outside of the FDA has proven otherwise. Well, it's the same case with evolution. Evolution has more facts to support it, but it cannot be proven because there's not enough evidence yet. In fact, there are too many facts that don't fit the theory and scientists need to iron out those details. Until we gain more facts and scientists are more honest with us, I will not believe evolution is true. It might be true, but I don't have enough evidence to believe it yet.
Because evolution conflicts with some people's worldview..duhh
Charles Darwin said for evolution to be true or vaguely arguable, human fossils should have hundreds of transitional forms, unfortunately for Secular Science, there are none.
-I believe (some) animals went through evolution
-I do however believe in suttle human physical adaption, like people in hot arid climates have wider nostrils and people in colder climates having more narrow noses. But I don't believe my ancestors are from the Amazon!
The famous argument, is mainly between fundamentalist Christians and atheists. Since atheists believe evolution either disproves the existence of a god, or there is no reason too, fundamentalist Christians try to disprove the claims of evolution to prove the existence of God.
My faith in God strengthened when I accepted evolution was plausible. I still believe in the 6 days of Creation but I believe they were epochs of time.
Evolution claims that a SPECIES can transform into a DIFFERENT SPECIES.
That is why evolution is - and will remain - only a theory, because there would
be multiple transitional stages in the fossil record if evolution ever happened.
To date, there has not been found one single example of gradation from one
species to another.
The only thing that happens is environmental adaptation WITHIN a species,
which is not evolution. It is just local adaptation.
Ask yourself why - since humans have been looking - not one creature has
"progressed" toward changing into something else? Not even higher animals
have "evolved" any further. While humans have developed language, tools,
buildings, transport, communications systems, music, electronics etc etc
what has been achieved by whales, chimpanzees, dolphins or any other of
the 'intelligent' animals? NOTHING . . . they are the same as always.
Evolution is a load of crock promoted by people who hope they can find a
way to disprove God, so they can escape accountability.
Because they believe their own biblical interpretations are infallible, even though they conflict with the biblical interpretations of most other Christians. Therefore, when objective reality conflicts with their biblical interpretations, it is objective reality that has to be wrong.
Accepting evolution as truth would mean everything the religious masses believe in is a lie. They don't want to have to scrutinize their own beliefs so life is easier for them.
Religious fundamentalists not only deny it, but insist that their "alternative theory" be taught in the classrooms in my country (USA). Frankly, we're low enough on the international list of scientifically challenged nations.
Neither do I but for some reason there are people who do not get it. As it is not complicated I can only assume they do not understand it because they do not want to understand it.
