Shake to shuffle/reload not working on iTouch?

I have a 32GB 3rd generation iTouch, and I recently got the iOS4 update. The shake to shuffle feature isn't working, and neither is the shake to reload on the facebook app. What do I do? Without having to restore it of course.
Misc. question: On the facebook app, when are you shown as offline or online? For instance, if your facebook is on the multitask bar, will you be seen as online?
The shake to shuffle's on in the settings.

if you close out of the app you are offline but when youre mutlitasking since technically your still in the app your online.

and have you gone to settings and put shake to shuffle on? cus when i updated it to 4.0 it restored my settings to factory mode.

and personally i dont use the shake cus if i do use it that means the ipod is always sensing/looking out for a shake and wasting extra battery.
