sharing internet between 2 laptops?

my laptop is directly connected to the cable modem through Ethernet card. then i create a new wireless network with my laptop and named it "LANparty". my friend's laptop can see my wireless network and connect to it, but he cant go to the internet. we both use vista. how can i share internet with him?
 
Does ur laptop comes with a built-in router? If not, then I dont think wi-fi is shared. (unless some mod of the cable is done). But for general sharing, a modem and router would be needed.
 
Never did network much, but in vista there is a user friendly setting menu called the network and sharing.

open the start menu, click on network, there should be an option called network and sharing centrer.
